Yichun Jinshan Park

Jinshan Park was first built in 1987 and completed in the autumn of 1988, taking one and a half years. It was jointly constructed by the employees and residents of all work units across the district through voluntary labor. At that time, it was among the earliest free, fully open parks in Yichun’s counties (cities), districts (bureaus), open to the public all day, and it got its name because it is located in the area of Jinshan Township.

The original Jinshan Park covered an area of 77 hectares, nestled against hills and beside water, where mountain views and waterscapes blend harmoniously. It features lush forests and meandering clear streams, facing the Chibi Nantian landscape across the river in a distant echo. The park includes a 3.7-hectare lake, 8 hectares of hills, and consists of two major lakes, flower beds and green spaces, pavilions and towers, as well as recreational facilities such as Chibi Nanshan. Major scenic spots within the park include: Fairy Scattering Flowers, Central Pavilion, Rest Garden, Water Pavilion and Cloudy Sky, and Carp and Lotus Pond. It serves as an important place for public leisure, entertainment, group activities, and fitness.

In 2008, to build Jinshan into a famous tourist town and enrich the cultural life of local residents, the Jinshan Township Party Committee and government redrafted the overall plan for Jinshan Park. They carried out large-scale renovations, reconstructions, and expansions. The central nursery was incorporated into the park's management, the northern gate was built, pavilions and towers were erected, steps and lake shores were paved, and five major zones were planned: fitness and sports area, children’s entertainment area, nursery scenic area, leisure and wellness area, and ecological garden area. The fitness and sports area includes basketball and volleyball courts, fitness plazas, a 400-meter running track, and fitness equipment. The children’s entertainment area features enclosed play zones, green spaces, and small landscape elements, serving as a dedicated play area for kids. The leisure and wellness area mainly consists of waterside pavilions, slow walking paths in the garden, and shaded seating, offering a space for locals and tourists to practice singing, express emotions, enjoy the scenery, and play chess after meals. The nursery scenic area spans 465 acres and primarily cultivates afforestation and landscaping seedlings and flowers such as Korean pine, spruce, sugar maple, larch, Manchurian ash, Scots pine, birch, pagoda tree, spring elm, and hawthorn. Since its establishment, it has made great contributions to the afforestation of barren hills and urban greening, beautification, and landscaping projects in our district. It is not only a science education park in our area but also a standardized nursery recognized by the Ministry of Forestry.

The ecological garden area is built along the Dafeng River embankment, mainly planted with precious tree species unique to the Lesser Khingan Mountains, such as Korean pine, larch, Scots pine, birch, Manchurian walnut, oak, and colorful-leaf trees. These are arranged in rows or square matrices, lush and green in spring and summer, and vibrant with autumn colors, while also forming a secondary defense line for windbreak and embankment protection. After renovation, the total area of the park reached 110 hectares, making it a new-style urban garden that highlights the theme of natural mountain-water culture.

As the awareness of park protection and community co-construction among local residents continues to grow, Jinshan Park has become the “backyard garden” for all the people in the district.
