Dongshan Mass Grave

The Dongshan Mass Grave is a cultural relic protection unit of Heilongjiang Province.

Located on the hillside of the Xin Yi area, the Dongshan Mass Grave was excavated on October 10, 1968. At that time, in order to extract more coal, Japanese invaders forced Chinese laborers to work beyond their limits. Countless workers who were deceived into coming to the mine were worked to death or beaten to death by the Japanese and then thrown into the mass grave. The excavation of just 210 square meters revealed a horrifying sight of heaps of bones, numerous torture instruments, and scenes too gruesome to behold.
