The romantic kapok-lined paths in Tainan are in full bloom – Recommended countryside mini-trip around the ancient city

Kapok, known as kapuk or kapok in Malay, is a sacred tree of the Siraya Pingpu tribe. When the kapok blossoms, it is also referred to as “changing the year,” which marks the Pingpu people’s New Year. The Pingpu people love the kapok not only for its beauty but also because its blooming serves as a kind of folk almanac, marking the timing for spring plowing, summer tending, autumn harvesting, and winter storage. Every year between March and April, the kapok trees along the straight country roads in Lin Chuh-pi, Baihe District, Tainan are covered in bright red blossoms hanging down like a heavenly scene, making it a popular photography spot for enthusiasts.

With the kapok trees in full bloom in Lin Chuh-pi, visitors can not only take photos under the romantic kapok-lined path, but also head to the Little South Sea Scenic Area to enjoy its unique tranquility, or visit Dongshan District to taste aromatic coffee.
