Mining History Museum

Since the discovery of the coalfield in Hegang in 1914, ninety years of dramatic changes have taken place, forming a rich history centered on development, hardship, struggle, construction, growth, and reform. Especially in the half-century since the establishment of the bureau in 1945, it has created tremendous material wealth and invaluable spiritual wealth for the nation. In order to remember history, learn from the past, build on previous achievements, inspire future generations, it was decided to build this museum.

The museum is divided into three main sections: the main exhibition hall, the east side hall, and the west side hall. The main exhibition hall is organized chronologically into five major parts: “Early Development, Japanese Puppet Rule, Early Years of Bureau Establishment, Construction and Development, and Reform and Progress.” The historical materials are detailed and abundant, and the exhibits are vivid and lifelike, offering a comprehensive glimpse into ninety years of mining area history. Visitors will receive a traditional education in patriotism and love for the mines, and draw strength from the values of enterprise, hard work, and dedication.
