Qingyuan Lake

Qingyuan Lake is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction and a national water conservancy scenic area.

The Qingyuan Lake Ecological Scenic Area is located in the northwest of Hegang City, in the middle and upper reaches of the Daheili River, a secondary tributary of the Songhua River. It is 9 kilometers from the city center. The reservoir has a total storage capacity of 33 million cubic meters and a water surface area of nearly 4 square kilometers. It is one of the city’s “Five Lakes, One River, Thirteen Streams” waterfront urban development projects.

Large-scale construction of the Qingyuan Lake Ecological Scenic Area began in 2009. By the end of 2012, the project had completed an European-style entrance gate and square, a water culture relief wall, the renovation of the Wuhuashan Platform, the Wuhuashan Pathway, expansion of scenic area roads, paving of the battery car lane, the lakeside road, the lotus pond, a wetland park, a service center, standardized flush toilets, landscaping, flower fields, scenic lighting, sound and surveillance systems, a wild fish fishing lake, an agricultural sightseeing ecological demonstration area below the dam, and a colorful artistic pavement. A total investment of 59.14 million yuan had been made. The scenic area construction is ongoing, with ten functional clusters beginning to take shape and overall reception capacity significantly improved.

In October 2013, the Qingyuan Lake Ecological Scenic Area was approved as a national water conservancy scenic area by the Ministry of Water Resources. The construction of the Qingyuan Lake Ecological Scenic Area Service Center, the lakeside road, landscaping, flower fields, and earthworks for the wild fish fishing lake, wooden platforms, and arched bridges were completed. Ten major functional zones—including the entrance service area, the wild fishing area, the flower viewing and spring outing area, and the lotus appreciation area—were fully built, and the scenic area was officially opened to the public. At the same time, to strengthen daily management of the scenic area, the Zhishui Water Conservancy Tourism Company was established to further develop the tourism resources of Qingyuan Lake. Projects such as the Fishing Garden, Water Play Garden, and Lakeside Cycling Route were opened to external investment, greatly enriching the service offerings of the scenic area and noticeably increasing the number of visitors coming for leisure and vacation.
