Jiagedaqi Beishan Forest Park is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Situated on the foothills of the Greater Khingan Range, the area features gently rolling hills with minimal elevation changes, classified as low mountainous and hilly terrain. The terrain is higher in the northwest and lower in the southeast, with low mountains and hills surrounding the urban area, while most flatlands are distributed along both banks of the Gan River. The average altitude in the Jiagedaqi District is 472 meters. The annual average temperature is -1.2°C, with a frost-free period ranging from 85 days to 130 days. The average annual precipitation is 494.8 millimeters, and the region has a cold temperate continental monsoon climate. The seasons are distinct, with long winters and short summers. The winter climate is harsh, earning it the nickname “high-cold zone.”

Jiagedaqi is known as the “Pearl of the North,” the “Emerging Forest City,” and the “First City of the Vast Greater Khingan.” It is home to the CPC Daxing'anling Regional Committee, the Daxing'anling Regional Administrative Office, the Daxing'anling Forestry Administration under the Ministry of Forestry, the Daxing'anling Military Sub-district, and the Jiagedaqi Office of the Harbin Railway Bureau. It serves as the political, economic, cultural center, and transportation hub of the Daxing'anling region.

Beishan Park, the capital park of the Greater Khingan Range located in Jiagedaqi, lies to the north of the city. Climbing up the steps offers panoramic views of the entire urban landscape. The area boasts well-preserved ecological resources, serving as a microcosm of the forest region’s timber resources. The hills are undulating yet gently sloped. Alongside the development and construction of the forested area, several scenic spots have been established, with notable examples including the Memorial Monument to the Railway Troops, the city’s iconic TV Tower, the Forest Oxygen Bar, and the Green Moon Bridge — popular leisure and entertainment venues for the public.

In 2004, marking the 40th anniversary of the development and construction of the Greater Khingan Range, local government invested heavily in a large-scale and visionary renovation and expansion project. Both the eastern and western entrances were refurbished, allowing the entire Beishan area to span east to west and form a self-contained touring system. The redesign incorporated numerous people-friendly, community-oriented, and human-centric concepts, featuring elegant and meaningful architectural styles that highlight the unique characteristics of the forested region. It is an ideal destination for activities such as “Releasing Your Mood, Strengthening Your Health, Embracing Nature, and Sensing Spring – the Springtime Mass Mountain-Climbing Event,” as well as a rare scenic spot for visitors seeking to explore the history of the Daxing'anling region’s development and construction.
