Garden Mountain Tourist Area

The Garden Mountain Tourist Area is situated in the southeastern part of Tuqiao Town, on the edge of the Songliao Plain, and is an extension of the Dahei Mountain range, a branch of the Changbai Mountains. It extends 10 kilometers from east to west and 4 kilometers from north to south, with the highest point at 302 meters. In ancient times, during spring and summer, the mountains and valleys were covered with blooming wildflowers, resembling a vast natural garden—this is how Garden Mountain got its name. The area is richly forested, with 6,000 hectares of natural forest and 1,500 hectares of planted forest. It boasts abundant wildlife resources, including more than 20 types of medicinal herbs, over 30 species of nationally protected animals, more than 10 types of wild vegetables, as well as a variety of fungi such as hazelnut mushrooms and pine mushrooms. At the summit stands a 35-meter-high watchtower, and at the foot of the mountain lies a reservoir covering 15 hectares. A cement road encircles the mountain, allowing visitors to tour it in a loop. During spring and summer, the pristine green ecology and the refreshing mountain air provide travelers with a genuine sense of returning to nature and spiritual liberation.

Tuqiao Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Yushu City.

Established as Xinli District in 1949, it became Tuqiao Township in 1956, was reorganized as a commune in 1958, reinstated as a township in 1983, and upgraded to a town in 1984. Located in the eastern part of the city, it is 34 kilometers from the municipal government, borders Wuchang County of Heilongjiang Province to the east, covers an area of 149 square kilometers, and has a population of 24,000. The town government is based in Tuqiao Tun. The Yushu–Shanhe Highway passes through the town. It administers nine village committees: Tuqiao, Yongsheng, Xinfang, Shanwan, Longhua, Changsheng, Shili, Weiguo, and Baojia, as well as four neighborhood committees: Fanrong, Fuqiang, Zhenxing, and Zhifu.
