Skywalks may not be rare, but the UK is about to unveil the world’s first high-altitude pool, delivering an ultra-thrilling experience of “swimming” in the sky.

This world-first high-altitude pool is part of a residential development in Nine Elms, a luxury property area on the south bank of the River Thames in London. The developer plans to construct a 25-meter-long, 5-meter-wide, and 3-meter-deep fully transparent pool on the rooftops of two 10-story residential buildings, using 8-inch-thick glass. It will offer an extraordinary experience of swimming in the air while enjoying panoramic views of the city streets below.

Inspired by an aquarium, this sky-high pool serves as an aerial bridge connecting two buildings. It is completely transparent and boasts no supporting pillars. While swimming, apart from enjoying breathtaking views of the UK skies, you can also gaze down at the scenery below, even spotting landmarks such as the British Parliament and the London Eye. In addition, the poolside will feature amenities including a bar, spa, and greenhouse, ensuring a truly luxurious experience.

Unfortunately, this dreamlike pool will only be accessible to residents of the building. Apartments in the complex start from £602,000 each, with move-in expected in 2018. So when you visit the banks of the River Thames in the UK, don’t be startled if you look up and see people swimming in the sky above you.
