Yuhuangmiao Reservoir

Yuhuangmiao Reservoir is a cultural tourism attraction.

Yuhuangmiao Reservoir is located at the junction of Tujiao and Shisihu Township in the southeast of Yushu City. The dam lies at 126°47′ east longitude and 44°43′ north latitude. The reservoir is built on the lower reaches of Xiaosandao River, a major tributary of Erdao River. The river originates from the northern slope of Yinhgong Cave Mountain in Tiande Township, Shulan County, with a catchment area of 187.6 square kilometers, accounting for 23% of the Erdao River sub-basin area.

The reservoir was constructed in 1958. It has a multi-year regulation capacity. After reinforcement in 1979 to improve safety, its design standard is for a once-in-a-century flood, and the verification standard is for a once-in-a-millennium flood. The dam crest elevation is 193.50 meters, with a total storage capacity of 58.9 million cubic meters. It is designed to irrigate 2,000 hectares of farmland and provides flood control and waterlogging prevention for 4,200 hectares.
