Tongde Hall

Tongde Hall is a cultural tourism attraction.

Tongde Hall was constructed in 1937 and completed by the end of 1938, covering a floor area of 5,758 square meters. It is a two-story palace-style building that integrates political activities, daily life, and entertainment. To demonstrate unity with the Japanese invaders, Puyi named it Tongde Hall, taking the meaning of "Japan and Manchukuo sharing one virtue and one heart."

The first floor served as the space where Puyi handled government affairs and conducted leisure activities, including the grand hall, worship room, waiting room, informal meeting room, Chinese-style room, piano room, billiards room, Japanese-style room, and cinema. The second floor was originally designed as the living quarters for Puyi and Wanrong, but Puyi never used it due to his suspicion that the Japanese had installed surveillance equipment in Tongde Hall. In 1943, after Li Yuqin entered the palace and was titled Noble Consort Fu, she moved into Wanrong’s former living quarters—an unprecedented event in Chinese history.
