Northeast Tiger Park

Jilin Province Northeast Tiger Park is situated 4.5 kilometers along the Changchun–Shuangyang Highway, inside the Jingyue Lake National Forest Park, directly opposite the Changying Century City. Spanning more than 50 hectares, it was opened to the public on April 26, 2009. It was initiated by the State Forestry Administration and the Jilin Provincial Forestry Department to rescue and protect injured wildlife and endangered species. This large-scale park integrates the rescue, breeding, rehabilitation, and viewing of rare and endangered wildlife, especially the Northeast Tiger.

[Attraction Highlights]

The park is nestled in the heart of the scenic Jingyue Lake area, where mountains and water blend harmoniously to create breathtaking views. Surrounded by lush green hills and tranquil waters, visitors can witness tigers leaping through pine forests and hear birds singing in the valleys. With its pristine natural environment, the park offers an authentic experience of wilderness. Over 60 species of rare and wild animals, totaling more than 2,000 individuals, roam freely here. These include Northeast Tigers, African Lions, Black Bears, Brown Bears, Tibetan Mastiffs, Ring-tailed Lemurs, Patas Monkeys, Malayan Sun Bears, Alpacas, Yaks, Miniature Horses, Sika Deer, Red-crowned Cranes, Oriental White Storks, Pelicans, Emus, and Peacocks. While conducting wild training for these animals, the park has also successfully released domesticated species such as alpacas, reindeer, Guangxi miniature horses, and sika deer into open areas, creating a stunning moving landscape within the park.

The park also features unique animal performance shows and “new, strange, and special” interactive experiences for visitors, offering a refreshing and exciting encounter. The Grand Animal Parade showcases the ecological concept of harmony and emotional connection between humans and animals. With a humanized viewing approach, visitors can observe the power and majesty of fierce animals like lions, tigers, and bears in a natural setting, experiencing the thrill of being close to these creatures. Up close, guests can admire gentle animals such as ring-tailed lemurs, sika deer, and mouflon sheep, as well as graceful, beautiful, and intelligent rare birds like peacocks, red-crowned cranes, and pelicans—feeling the joy and wonder these amazing creatures bring.

[Functions and Roles]

Unlike regular animal-viewing parks, the Northeast Tiger Park is not only an ecological wildlife park focusing on free-roaming Northeast Tigers but also the most standardized wildlife rescue, breeding, and domestication base in the province. It serves as a key institution for wildlife rescue, breeding, scientific research, and public education. In recent years, the park has rescued and treated over 820 individual wild animals of more than 10 species, including Golden Eagles, Cinereous Vultures, Leopard Cats, Black Bears, White Swans, Demoiselle Cranes, Red-crowned Cranes, and others, all of which have been released back into the wild. Additionally, the park’s rescue center breeds rare, endangered, and protected wildlife species. It has successfully bred 7 Northeast Tigers, 6 ring-tailed lemurs, 5 brown bears, 1 patas monkey, 1 mouflon sheep, 108 peacocks, 68 wild geese, 3 silver pheasants, 100 pearl chickens, and over 70 various pheasant species. The Northeast Tiger Park is not just a paradise for wildlife but also a showcase of ecological civilization, composing a beautiful symphony of harmony between humans, nature, and animals.
