Mountain poplar and white birch are pioneer tree species. When coniferous-broadleaf mixed forests or broadleaf mixed forests are repeatedly severely damaged, white birch and mountain poplar, as light-demanding pioneer species, can invade and form forests. Depending on site conditions, they form either pure white birch forests or mixed forests of mountain poplar and white birch, covering an area of approximately 12.0 hectares, mainly concentrated on the southern side of Chicken Comb Lake.
