Cluster of Thick Elm Trees

Located on the cliffs above 700 meters in altitude to the north of Jiguan Rock in Jile Ridge, near the summit of Sifang Mountain, there grows a stand of century-old thick elm trees, covering an area of about 3.0 hectares with approximately 3,000 trees. All the trees are over 100 years old, with an average diameter at breast height of about 8 cm, an average height of around 4.5 meters, and an average crown width of about 6.0 square meters. The thick elm is highly resistant, tolerant of poor soil, and adaptable to harsh living environments. It grows slowly, taking about a hundred years to form a mature shape and community. With their twisted yet sturdy trunks and lush, verdant crowns, they appear robust, dignified, and tenaciously rooted in the cliffs. It is quite rare to find such a thriving cluster of thick elm trees that are a century old. The diverse forms of these elms can be compared to the pines of Huangshan and the birches of Changbai Mountain.
