The Site of the Xiaoxigou Incident is a classic red tourism attraction.

The Site of the Xiaoxigou Incident is located in Group 1 of Liuda Village (formerly Sibashi Village), Hongmei Town, Meihekou City, covering an area of 1,000 square meters. Only a memorial stele erected on July 1, 1987, to commemorate the Xiaoxigou Tragedy remains today, while the actual site of the incident has been turned into farmland.

Sibashi Xiaoxigou in Hailong County (now Group 1 of Liuda Village, Hongmei Town, Meihekou City) was one of the main areas of activity for the underground Communist Party and anti-Japanese resistance forces in Hailong. On August 6, 1932, when the Japanese garrison in Shan Chengzhen learned that a bandit leader known as "Haijiao" and his men were stationed in Xiaoxigou, they swiftly dispatched troops that arrived in Xiaoxigou, Sibashi, Hailong County early on the morning of August 7. Setting up an ambush all around, they mercilessly slaughtered unarmed innocent civilians, committing the bloody Xiaoxigou Massacre.

On the morning of August 7, a wealthy Zhang family in Xiaoxigou, Hailong County, was holding a ceremony to take a concubine. By 10 a.m., guests from nearby villages had gathered in large numbers. A temporary shelter had been set up in the yard, musicians were hired, and there was lively entertainment with storytelling and opera performances. Just as the feast was about to begin, a sudden gunshot rang out, and the waiter carrying dishes fell to the ground. Then bursts of gunfire erupted, and with a loud explosion, a shell landed in the yard, instantly killing several people. Someone shouted that the Japanese were coming, causing panic among the crowd. The Japanese then launched fierce attacks with “Type 60 mortars” on the Zhang family’s residence. Amid screams, many were shot dead, and one young girl was blown apart so severely that her body could not be found. After the shelling, the Japanese soldiers moved in with bayonets, stabbing anyone they found, shooting those who tried to flee, and eventually rounding up the remaining thirty or so people, forcing them to kneel on the ground. Their shirts were stripped off, and each was interrogated about whether they were Communists. The atrocities continued until the afternoon before the soldiers finally left.

In this massacre, the savage killings by the Japanese invaders left 118 blood-soaked corpses in Xiaoxigou, causing over 100 families to suffer the grief of losing their loved ones. After the Japanese garrison withdrew, Xiaoxigou became a sea of blood, filled with heart-wrenching cries of parents and children, a scene too horrible to behold. It took people a full three days to bury all their relatives who had been innocently killed by the Japanese, leaving Xiaoxigou almost deserted. The Xiaoxigou Massacre fully exposed the Japanese invaders' heinous crimes of slaughtering innocents and the inhuman ambitions of Japanese militarism. This site has now been turned into farmland.
