The Yan'an Anti-Japanese Military and Political University Memorial Site and the Yan'an Artillery School Memorial Site are classic red tourism destinations.

The Yan'an Anti-Japanese Military and Political University Memorial Site and the Yan'an Artillery School Memorial Site are located at Group 1, Unit 4, Tuanjie Street, Shan Cheng Town, Meihekou City, covering an area of about 2,000 square meters. Prior to 2011, the site was used as cornfields by local farmers in Shan Cheng Town. By 2012, the original location of the memorial site had been occupied for building residential structures.

After the victory in the War of Resistance against Japan, in late August 1945, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China established the policy of controlling the Northeast and establishing a solid base there. In order to swiftly seize key strategic positions in the Northeast, the Central Committee dispatched a large number of cadres to the region. To quickly train military personnel for the establishment of the South Manchuria Base Area, the Central Committee decided to open military academies in southern Manchuria. Consequently, the Yan'an Military and Political University, the Yan'an Artillery School, and the Aviation Corps successively moved into Shan Cheng Town, Hailong County, Jilin Province. From September 23 to December 30, 1945, under the orders of the CPC Central Committee headquarters in Yan'an, the Yan'an Artillery School and the Yan'an Anti-Japanese Military and Political University, led by President Zhu Rui and Vice President He Changgong, arrived in Shan Cheng Town, Hailong County, in seven batches, with over 4,000 personnel moving by unit. Most of these units later proceeded to Tonghua. According to directives from the Northeast Bureau, among the 58 veteran cadres dispatched to Hailong County, more than half—approximately 30 individuals—were selected from the Military and Political University and the Yan'an Artillery School. These cadres actively participated in leading local development in Hailong County, joining the county party committee, county government, and local armed forces. They mobilized the masses to carry out rent and interest reduction campaigns, combat traitors and local despots, and fight bandits. They also selected educated cadres to work in middle and primary schools, and those with specialized experience to serve in banks, railways, and newspapers. Subsequently, the Yan'an Anti-Japanese Military and Political University and the Yan'an Artillery School relocated to Tonghua.

The original site of the memorial has undergone many changes and can no longer be restored to its former appearance.
