Yaowang Mountain Scenic Area

Yaowang Mountain Scenic Area is situated in Fengbeibu Township, approximately 25 kilometers southeast of Faku and 55 kilometers from Shenyang. Covering an area of 356 hectares, it neighbors Tieling. Originally called Fuxing Mountain, it was renamed Yaowang Mountain more than 1,300 years ago after Sun Simiao, one of China’s ten most outstanding physicians, resided and died on this mountain. The Yaowang Mountain Scenic Area is a tourist destination themed around healthcare activities and focused on leisure and wellness.

Although not high or particularly large, Yaowang Mountain boasts extensive forest coverage, favorable terrain, centuries-old date and hawthorn orchards, lush vegetation, shaded woodlands, and a pristine environment with fresh air. It is home to dozens of wild animal species such as foxes, hares, pheasants, and quails, as well as over a hundred varieties of precious medicinal herbs. The surrounding foothills feature multiple orchards growing nearly a hundred types of fruit trees, including apples, pears, grapes, jujubes, hawthorns, and crabapples. On the mountain sits the Medicine King Temple, originally built during the Sui Dynasty and renamed the Sun Simiao Memorial Hall when it was reconstructed in the 1990s. Other attractions include the Wooden Incense Pavilion where Sun Simiao is said to have ground medicine, the Sacred Spring used in his pharmaceutical practices, and the Fox Fairy Hall, where a mythical fox assisted the Medicine King in treating the people. Truly, “a mountain needs no great height to be famous if it has immortals dwelling within.” Major scenic zones include the Yaowang Functional Development Area and the Landscape Display Area, featuring attractions such as the Qingxin Pavilion, Sacred Spring, Medicinal Cuisine Kitchen, Holy Medicine Altar, Gate of the Medical Sage, Medicine King Temple, Medicine King Pagoda, Ecological Park, Eco Restaurant, Herb-Washing Pool, and Herbal Garden.
