Awaji Island, part of Japan’s Hyogo Prefecture, is a popular tourist destination known for Tadao Ando’s “Awaji Yumebutai” and the “Church on the Water,” hailed as a dream wedding church choice worldwide. Now, Kansai Airport has launched new regular flights to Awaji Island, with travel time of just one hour.

Previously, traveling from Kansai Airport to Awaji Island mainly involved taking a high-speed bus, which took at least two hours. With the “Kansai Airport–Awaji Island” regular ferry route (Awaji Kankō Sen) resuming service after a 10-year hiatus, it will now take just about an hour to reach Awaji Island by boat from Kansai Airport, making it much more convenient for foreign travelers visiting Japan to explore Awaji Island.

The “Kansai Airport–Awaji Island” regular ferry route is now open for service, with one-way tickets priced at 2,800 yen and round-trip tickets at 5,300 yen. Ferries depart daily from Sumoto Port on Awaji Island at 4:45 AM. Detailed schedules are as follows:
