Grand in scale, simple yet elegant, serene and solemn, making the Dongling scenic area by mountains and water a place visitors find hard to leave.

The cemetery faces south with its back to the north, surrounded by red walls. At the center of the southern wall is a single-eave, hip-and-gable red gate with three bays and three archways. On both sides of the stone-paved path inside the gate are pairs of stone carvings including lions, horses, camels, and tigers. At the end of the flat ground, utilizing the natural mountain terrain, 108 stone steps were constructed to symbolize the 36 Heavenly Generals and 72 Earthly Fiends. Beyond the stone bridge, at the center stands a stele pavilion with a double-eave, hip-and-gable roof, featuring four arched gates and a Sumeru pedestal base. Inside is the “Divine Merit and Sage Virtue Stele of the Fuling Tomb of the Qing Dynasty,” personally composed by Emperor Kangxi (Xuan Ye) of the Qing Dynasty, with inscriptions in both Manchu and Chinese, recounting the achievements of Nurhaci. Further north lies a castle-like structure called the Square Castle, with watchtowers at each of its four corners. At the center of the southern side of the Square Castle is the Long’en Gate, above which the three characters “Long’en Gate” are inscribed in Chinese, Manchu, and Mongolian. Upon entering, one faces the Long’en Hall, a ceremonial hall used for worship, and behind it, above a grotto gate, stands a Ming Tower housing a stone stele inscribed with “The Tomb of the High Emperor Taizu.” Behind the Square Castle lies the circular Precious City, and the space between the two forms a crescent shape, hence also called the Crescent City. In the center of the Precious City rises a prominent Precious Top, beneath which lies the underground palace housing the coffin. The Fuling architectural complex is a crystallization of the sweat and wisdom of the laboring people. It blends traditional Chinese architectural styles with those of the Manchu, creating a unique style distinct from other imperial tombs within the Shanhai Pass. Dongling Park

Numerous scenic areas and attractions have been built near the tomb site, such as “Dragon Beach Fishing,” “Forest Bathing Ground,” “Apricot Grove at Dawn,” “Grassland under the Clouds,” “Viewing the Stream from Dragon Tail,” “Imperial Spring,” “Concubine Pine,” “Sacred Turtle,” and “Loyal Dog Saves Its Master,” among others. Today, Dongling Park has become a multifunctional sightseeing destination that combines historical relics, garden scenery, and leisure tourism. With its breathtaking architectural art, rich historical and cultural significance, and beautiful garden landscapes, it attracts numerous domestic and international visitors.
