The Xiaohekou Great Wall is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Xiaohekou Great Wall is situated on the steep and rugged Yanshan Mountain Range near Xigou Village, Yong’anbao Township, Suizhong County, and acts as the boundary between Hebei and Liaoning provinces. This section of the wall stretches about 8.9 kilometers in length, comprising roughly 31 watchtowers, 18 battle platforms, and 14 beacon towers. According to historical records, the Xiaohekou Great Wall was originally constructed in the 14th year of the Hongwu reign of the Ming Dynasty (1381 AD), boasting a history of nearly 700 years.

In Yong’an Township, Suizhong, Liaoning Province, there lies an ancient section of the Great Wall — the main line of the Ming-era Great Wall within Liaoning. Stretching through seven natural villages, this historic wall is now commonly referred to as the Xiaohekou Great Wall. Located on the steep and rugged Yanshan Mountains near Xigou Village, Yong’anbao Township, Suizhong County, the wall stands majestically atop perilous ridges, earning it the nickname “the Third Badaling.” It also marks the border between Liaoning and Hebei provinces. The Xiaohekou Great Wall is built with blue bricks, and the stones of the ramparts are covered in moss, bearing witness to centuries of history. This approximately 8.9-kilometer-long section remains solidly constructed with bricks and stones to this day, featuring around 31 watchtowers, 18 battle platforms, and 14 beacon towers. Historical accounts state that its construction began in the 14th year of the Hongwu reign of the Ming Dynasty (1381 AD).

Xiaohekou is a natural hamlet within Xigou Village. The Great Wall here, tucked away in the deep mountains and dense forests, remains largely unknown to the public, representing an authentic and wild section of the ancient wall. Owing to its strategic location nestled between two mountains and a valley, where the wall guards a mountain pass, the area boasts naturally harmonious primeval forest landscapes. The ancient forest envelops the wall, while century-old pines grow atop the watchtowers, creating a majestic and breathtaking scene. Even more remarkable are the exquisitely carved patterns on the doors and windows of the watchtowers, which exhibit a unique and delicate feminine beauty. Experts and scholars have dubbed this section the “Women’s Great Wall.”
