Dahuofang Reservoir Scenic Area

Dahuofang Reservoir Scenic Area is located in Shuncheng District, Fushun City, Liaoning Province. It is primarily centered around the majestic and grand Dahuofang Reservoir. The reservoir controls a catchment area of 5,437 square kilometers, with a maximum water surface area of 110 square kilometers. The water scenery is beautiful, and the area boasts a concentration of both natural and cultural landscapes, enjoying a high reputation nationwide. The scale of the project is enormous, making it one of the earliest large-scale hydraulic projects constructed during the First Five-Year Plan period in the early years of New China. The reservoir is nestled among surrounding mountains, with graceful peaks, lush forests, dense vegetation, and expansive water surfaces, offering stunning natural scenery.

The scenic area features numerous natural attractions such as Little Qingdao, Tiebei Mountain, Lion-Tiger Peak, Eagle Platform, Square Cave, and General’s Platform, as well as two well-known provincial forest parks: Monkey Stone and Three Rocks. It also boasts culturally rich sites with strong Manchu characteristics, including the ancient battlefield of Sarhu where Nurhaci, the founding emperor of the Qing Dynasty, fought his decisive battle against the Ming Dynasty, the renowned Marshal Lin Memorial, and Wanggao Mountain commemorating Wanggao, leader of the Jurchen people. In Xinbin County, located upstream of the reservoir and the birthplace of the Qing Dynasty, you can find the Yongling Tomb—renowned for its exquisite architectural craftsmanship, long history, and profound Ming and Qing cultural heritage. The restored Hetu Ala Old Town, along with the Dizang Temple and Xianyou Palace, attract many domestic and international tourists seeking to explore the past and present. These historical sites hold significant cultural and sightseeing value.
