Solo travelers can sign up too！ Kaohsiung Light Rail’s first trial ride phase opens for registration starting the 8th

Kaohsiung Light Rail will begin offering free trial rides from the 16th, with registrations accepted in batches. The first batch (10/16–10/24) opens for online registration at 9 AM on the 8th until noon on the 14th. Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corporation also reminds the public that an EasyCard is required to board.

From the 16th, the public can try out the light rail between C1 Lizihnei Station and C4 Kaisyuan Zhonghua Station. The first train departs at 9:00 AM, the last at 6:30 PM, with trains running every 30 minutes for a total of 20 services per day. Passengers are not allowed to get on or off midway; they can take the train from C1 to C4, then return from C4 to C1.

Trial ride registrations are accepted online or by phone, with a limit of 150 passengers per train.In response to earlier reports that only group registrations were allowed, Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corporation clarified that there is no such restriction—individuals may register as well. Even one person can sign up, though the maximum group size is 45.Successful registrants will receive a registration number and must present it on-site on the day of the trial ride. Those who fail to arrive five minutes before departure will forfeit their spot, and their boarding number will be voided.

KRTC also reminds passengers that eating and drinking are prohibited on the light rail, just like on the metro. Pets must be kept in pet carriers if brought onboard, and bicycles are not allowed during the trial period. KRTC also announced that the second trial phase (10/25–10/31) will open for reservations on the 19th.
