Autumn is the perfect season to enjoy crabs, and many restaurants are rolling out a variety of crab dishes. In addition to local three-spot crabs, flower crabs, and the mainland’s hairy crabs, The Okura Prestige Taipei has started offering Japanese snow crabs from October, while The Miramar Garden Hotel is serving up Thai Blue Diamond crab dishes.

Snow crabs are one of Japan’s three great crabs. Yamazato Japanese Restaurant at The Okura Prestige Taipei offers a snow crab set meal for NT$2,300 + 10%. There is also a live snow crab dish available by reservation one week in advance for NT$5,000 + 10%, with each crab serving only 2–4 people. The crabs are prepared by steaming or grilling and are presented to guests for inspection before cooking.

The Miramar Garden Hotel’s Rainforest Restaurant launches “Ultimate Autumn | Selected Asian Flavors” this fall, featuring Thai wild Blue Diamond crabs as the star ingredient, prepared with Asian culinary techniques. From October 11 to November 30, prices remain unchanged. From Monday to Thursday, they offer Myanmar soldier crabs and local Taiwanese three-spot crabs, starting at NT$780 per person; on Fridays to Sundays, they add Thai wild Blue Diamond crabs, starting at NT$980 per person.

From October 12 to November 30, 2015, Taipei Sheraton’s Yi Garden Chinese Restaurant introduces a series of autumn crab dishes. Featuring flower crabs, virgin crabs, sand crabs, and hairy crabs, paired with autumn tonic ingredients such as pears, sugarcane, abalone, and lilies, Chef Kao Kang-hui of Yi Garden has created two signature autumn crab dishes symbolizing the ice-and-fire experience: “Iced Mist Drunken Flower Crab” and “Red Robe Big Sand Crab.” They also offer a popular “Seasonal Autumn Crab Set Meal” and a shell-free “Autumn Crab Lung-Nourishing Set” favored by women.

The Silks Club Hotel Group’s Taipei Silks Place and Tainan Silks Place have joined forces for the first time, launching the “Imperial Crab Feast – 108 Dishes” from October 7, 2015. This features 108 crab dishes prepared in various cooking styles, along with premium crab imperial feasts that echo the richness of the autumn food scene. Various types of crabs and cooking methods are available for à la carte service, starting at NT$780 per dish. Taipei Silks Place offers crab varieties including large sand crabs, large female sand crabs, virgin crabs, and top-grade king crabs, while Tainan Silks Place uses sand crabs, female sand crabs, virgin crabs, red crabs, vegetable crabs, and flower crabs.

The La Farfalla Italian Restaurant at The House of Tomorrow follows the rhythm of the seasons, launching “Autumn Crab Seasonal Flavors” from now until November 5. Order the “Selected Charcoal-Grilled Main Course” during the Classic Banquet on weekdays or holidays, and each person will receive a sweet, plump hairy crab served individually, starting at NT$1,980 + 10% per dish.
