Delta awards honorary captain title; the surprise pilot turns out to be... Snoopy!

Sixty-five years ago, the World War I flying ace Snoopy took to the skies for the first time. To celebrate Snoopy’s adventurous legacy, Delta Air Lines honored Snoopy with the title of “Delta Honorary Captain” at a ceremony held at the Delta Flight Museum.

Delta Air Lines stated that in addition to receiving a flight medal from the airline, Snoopy was also presented with an “Honorary Captain Certificate” signed by Captain Steve Dickson, Delta’s Senior Vice President of Flight Operations. In the recently released movie *Snoopy*, Snoopy also earned his long-coveted flight medal.

At the ceremony where Snoopy was honored, *Snoopy* movie screenwriter and producer Craig Schulz, director Steve Martino, as well as the actors who voiced Charlie Brown, Lucy, the Little Red-Haired Girl, and the *Beagle Scouts* also attended the event. John Boatright, curator of the Delta Flight Museum, represented the company’s staff, captains, and flight attendants in welcoming the guests.
