No need to leave the country to see samba dancers！The Xizhou Samba Carnival kicks off with enthusiasm on the 21st

Want to enjoy passionate samba dancing? Now you don’t have to go abroad — just come to Yunlin. The Xizhou Samba Carnival will kick off at 2 PM on November 21, starting with a street parade from Douliu Grapefruit Pavilion. There will be live performances including samba dancers, samba drum teams, animal-themed parade groups, as well as outdoor shows at Xizhou Mini Theater. The public can also join the parade at any time and enjoy the fun together.

Huang Song-hsing, chairman of Xizhou Community Development Association, said that this year marks the 6th edition of the Xizhou Samba Carnival, and each year has a different theme. This year’s main theme is “Samba Energizes the Countryside, ‘Hip’ Island Joy Garden,” featuring common costumes such as pigs and chickens along with chick-shaped puppets joining the parade. The aim is to closely blend samba dancing with rural imagery, giving the dance a more local Yunlin lifestyle flavor.
