Greet the First Light of 2016 – Watch the Sun God Totem F16 Soar in the Sky

To welcome the beautiful sunrise on the east coast in 2016, the Hualien County Government announced on the 19th that it will collaborate with the Air Force’s 401st Tactical Fighter Wing to organize the“Fighter Jet Sprint to Greet the Sunrise Event”on New Year’s Day 2016 at Qixingtan in Xincheng Township. The public is invited to Hualien to witness the first light of 2016, where an F16 fighter jet adorned with a sun god totem will also soar through the sky, delivering a spectacular performance.

To avoid overcrowding and alleviate traffic congestion on County Highway 193, shuttle buses will be arranged on New Year’s Day. A shuttle bus stop will be set up in front of the Hualien County Government (at the intersection of Fuxian Road) to run opposite the Qixingtan Star-Gazing Plaza. Buses are expected to depart from Fuxian Road from 4:30 AM to 6:30 AM and from the Star-Gazing Plaza from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM. The shuttles will leave as soon as they are full.

On New Year’s Day, a specially painted F16 fighter jet featuring a local sun god totem will perform a flight display. Imagine the F16 soaring as the first light of dawn breaks over the eastern horizon, and enjoy the thrilling sight of formation flying. The public is reminded to book accommodations early if planning to visit Hualien to watch the first light of 2016, to avoid any disappointment.
