9 Special In-Flight Meals: Vietjet – The Vietnamese Rice Dumpling Is a Must-Try

Vietjet Air announced the launch of its “Feast of Fairy Tales, Sharing the Surprise” year-end thank-you promotion in December. Passengers flying on any Vietjet route, including those traveling round-trip between Taipei and Ho Chi Minh City, have the chance to win free plane tickets, smartphones, or vouchers for stays at five-star Vietnamese resorts from now until January 5, 2016.

Vietjet Air also stated that since officially launching direct flights from Taipei to Ho Chi Minh City at the end of 2014, nearly a year has passed. Onboard, Vietjet offers a selection of Vietnamese rice dumplings, savory sticky rice, char siu stir-fried noodles, crab stir-fried glass noodles, Thai fried rice, Singapore fried noodles, Italian Bolognese beef pasta, pickled vegetable braised pork sticky rice, and Lucky Beef Rice – providing passengers with a variety of choices.

Nguyen Thuy Binh, Deputy General Manager of Vietjet Air, mentioned that Vietnamese rice dumplings differ somewhat in both preparation and appearance from Taiwanese ones; in Vietnam, glutinous rice, mung beans, and pork are wrapped in leaves into a square shape and then steamed. These bright green dumplings are typically served with dried meat slices, and passengers are encouraged to give them a try. Passengers who register online 36 hours before departure can also enjoy up to 20% off on Singapore fried noodles and Italian Bolognese beef pasta.
