What are Taiwan's top 10 viral attractions? The "Leaning Mailbox" takes the top spot.

Yahoo announced Taiwan's top 10 viral attractions in 2015, ranking them based on a surge in search volume for tourist spots this year.The "Leaning Mailbox," knocked askew by Typhoon Soudelor, claimed first place, followed by the Rainbow Church in Cijin, Kaohsiung, and Fushoushan Farm, a renowned maple leaf viewing spot, which took second and third places respectively.

1. Leaning Mailbox
Taiwan is full of beautiful scenery, but the winner of the 2015 viral attraction rankings is none other than the "Leaning Mailbox" knocked sideways by Typhoon Soudelor. After the storm, the mailbox became the most adorable victim, attracting crowds of people lining up for photos. The post office also capitalized on the trend by launching creative postcards and figurines, with all proceeds from postcard sales donated to typhoon victims. So, it’s no surprise it topped the viral attraction list.

2. Cijin Rainbow Church
The second viral attraction is the "Rainbow Church" located in Cijin Coastal Park, Kaohsiung. Opened just this September, the colorful rainbow church symbolizes brighter days after the rain, attracting many couples to take wedding photos. It has become the go-to spot for capturing overseas-style bridal portraits without leaving Taiwan.

3. Fushoushan Farm
Autumn is prime time for maple leaf viewing, and Fushoushan Farm, nestled between Hehuanshan and the Snow Mountain range, has become one of Taiwan’s famous spots for fall foliage. Along the way, you’ll pass the Lishan Hotel and can even catch a glimpse of the snow-capped Xueshan range. The area also connects to attractions like Chiang Kai-shek’s Former Residence, Tianchi (Heavenly Lake), Lishan Elementary School, and Lishan Church, securing its spot as the third most viral attraction.

4. Dragon Ball Bus Stop
The beloved classic cartoon "My Neighbor Totoro" has become a must-have feature in Taiwan’s painted villages. There are four super cute "Dragon Ball bus stops" across Taiwan, located in Zhongzheng Park in Keelung, Yizhan Leisure Farm in Tainan, Shilin Village in Dajia District, Tainan City, and Guanshan in Taitung. Each stop draws visitors eager to take photos and wait for the bus alongside Totoro.

5. RuoYin Farm
Located along the road to the Daxue Mountain Forest Recreation Area, RuoYin Farm is famed for its stunning sea of clouds. The scenery varies beautifully across the seasons, drawing visitors to admire the sea of clouds, sunset, and night views while immersing themselves in nature.

6. New Chimei Museum
The New Chimei Museum, located in Renhe District, Tainan City, officially opened to the public on January 1 this year. With its distinctly European-style architecture, the museum has attracted many visitors seeking a pilgrimage-like experience. You can capture stunning overseas-style photos in Taiwan, both in daylight and at night. The museum primarily houses Western artworks, including masterpieces from the Renaissance, Baroque, Neoclassicism, Romanticism, and Post-Impressionism periods. Its richest collection consists of 19th-century French paintings and sculptures. Additionally, it displays exhibits on natural evolution across continents, ancient artifacts, musical instruments, and weapons.

7. Glass Light Bridge
The Glass Light Bridge in Pinglai Creek Valley, Nantou, is the first of its kind to feature a 54-meter-long bridge deck made entirely of reinforced glass. Looking down, you can see the 60-meter-deep valley below. Trial operations began on August 25, and its eight fully transparent glass panels make this sky bridge even more thrilling.

8. Dongshi Forest Farm
One of Taiwan’s famous firefly-watching spots, Dongshi Forest Farm attracts crowds every year from mid-April to early May during the peak firefly season. Visitors come to watch the “dancing stars” on the ground and enjoy the magical experience of dancing with fireflies. The farm also reminds visitors of four key principles for firefly watching: do not catch fireflies, do not enter their habitat, do not use lights that disturb them, and do not make loud noises.

9. Painted Rice Fields
One of the most famous painted rice fields that became popular in Taiwan this year is the “1st Pingtung International Painted Rice Art Festival” organized by the Pingtung County Government. Spanning an area of 1 hectare, the rice field features popular LINE FRIENDS cartoon characters such as Brown, Cony, James, and Sally, attracting both adults and children to enjoy a simple and relaxing countryside getaway.

10. Forest of Serenity
Known as the “Yellowstone of Taiwan,” the “Forest of Serenity” was originally famous for its pristine forest landscape. The mist-covered swamp with towering cedar trees and their reflections is actually a legacy of the 921 Earthquake. The earthquake blocked the river channel, forming the swamp. With sunlight filtering through the forest and casting reflections of tree shadows on the swamp, the breathtaking scenery helps soothe the soul.
