Over half of the Gold Coast Marathon course runs along the beautiful coastline. Not only is the route low in elevation and with few slopes, but the average temperature during the event month is around 10 to 20 degrees Celsius, making it easy for runners to achieve personal bests. The organizers have also planned various race options, ranging from 2km to the full marathon, ensuring there's a suitable event for everyone.
▲ The 5.7km competitive event has no minimum age limit, but children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian throughout the race.
Since its inception in 1979, the Gold Coast Marathon has not only been Australia’s most important international road race, but also the country’s first IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federations)-certified gold-label event. It is a highly anticipated large-scale running carnival among global running enthusiasts. In 2015, over 27,000 participants from around the world took part, including more than 400 runners from Taiwan.
