Four-Color Rice Paints Lu Zheng's Portrait: 2-Hectare "Pili 3D Colorful Rice Field" Debuts in Pingtung

After last year’s LINE character-themed rice field art, Pingtung County Government has secured free authorization from Pili International Multimedia this year to create a massive 2-hectarePili Puppet Show 3D Colorful Rice Field, which opens on the 30th at the Pingtung Tropical Agriculture Expo Park.

The Pili Puppet Show 3D Colorful Rice Field has been under preparation since the end of December last year. The entire rice field features key Pili characters—Lu Zheng (素还真) and Ye Ye Shu (一页书)—with four-colored rice meticulously arranged to create vivid, lifelike depictions of these figures in the field.This marks a global first.

Similar to last year, to allow visitors to enjoy a panoramic view of the Pili Puppet Show 3D Colorful Rice Field, a 6-meter-high observation deck will be set up this year. Numbered tickets will be distributed during specific time slots, enabling guests to overlook the rice field from above.

The Pingtung Tropical Agriculture Expo, returning after a five-year hiatus, not only presents the Pili Puppet Show 3D Colorful Rice Field but also showcases local agricultural produce with an 800-meter-long fruit and melon tunnel. Decorated with over 10 types of melons, the tunnel serves as both a scenic attraction and an educational display, with informational tags on the various fruits and vegetables.

Additionally, theorganizers have arranged a vast 3.5-hectare flower sea using over 20 floral varieties, including Cosmos, Sunflowers, and Salvia. When viewed from the air, the undulating hillside flower sea clearly forms the shape of two hands holding a young sprout—a must-photo spot at this year’s Pingtung Tropical Agriculture Expo (Pingtung Hot Expo)!

The Pingtung Tropical Agriculture Expo runs from January 30 to February 29 and offers free admission. In addition to the three featured attractions above, the event also includes a children’s play area, pet zone, rose garden, and food street. Shuttle buses operated in partnership with Pingtung Bus will run between Pingtung Railway Station and the expo site, with services approximately every 30 minutes.
