1. Chūta Curry
Chūta Curry is truly a hidden alleyway gem, tucked inside an alley within Lehua Night Market. As soon as you step into the lane, you’ll see a line of eager diners. Though the shop is small with limited seating, its undeniable charm lies in its incredible cost-performance ratio. The pork cutlet in the pork cutlet curry rice is impressively thick, paired with a mellow and mildly spicy curry sauce with just the right kick—making it incredibly smooth and delicious. A silky omelet garnish adds richness to the overall texture of the curry rice. All this quality comes at just over NT$100, making it the perfect example of alleyway deliciousness. However, the shop will be relocating after the New Year, so fans eager to try this curry rice should keep a close eye on its fan page.

2. Inraku House
Inraku House was formerly known as Hongjia Curry Rice and was renamed after the current owner took over, giving the place a complete makeover with a new Japanese-style interior. Despite the change in appearance, the star dish remains “curry rice.” The shop only serves one item—curry rice—and yet it has gained immense popularity relying solely on that one dish. That’s truly no small feat. The curry at Inraku House carries the flavor of the owner’s grandfather. Back during the 228 Incident, to make ends meet, the grandfather opened a small canteen selling curry rice. Now, the current owner has inherited that taste, using an authentic Japanese-style curry recipe to continue the legacy, allowing more people to enjoy the rich, traditional flavors of classic Japanese curry.

3. Sato Curry
Located near Taipei Metro Liuzhangli Station, Sato Curry, like Inraku House, is another shop that specializes solely in curry dishes, with beverages as a secondary offering. The overall vibe of the shop is warm and cozy with a refined touch. The sunny-side-up egg on top of the curry becomes the highlight of the entire bowl. Sato Curry uses specially selected Yuli fragrant rice from Hualien—the firm texture of the rice paired with moderately spicy curry creates an exceptionally mild and comforting flavor. It’s satisfying without ever feeling too heavy, even after multiple bites. Come on, have a delightful date with this curry.
