The Nantou Lantern Festival was held with great fanfare in Jiji Town on February 6th.The main lantern "Monkey Brings Fortune," located at Wuchang Palace Square, made its debut, quickly becoming a major attraction. Many visitors stopped to admire and take photos with it, making it a new local landmark. Additionally, the 1.8-kilometer-long lantern area along the route has been gradually completed,encircling Jiji Town’s bustling district,with 12 uniquely themed lantern zones.

The main lantern "Monkey Brings Fortune" is situated right in front of Wuchang Palace. It depicts the Monkey King leading a troop of monkeys climbing to overlook the distance, symbolizing the blessing of having many children and grandchildren. In its hand is a peach, which sounds like "fortune" (tóu) in Taiwanese Hokkien, implying "Monkey Brings Fortune (Investment)." It prays for good luck for all lantern viewers and the entire nation, ushering in an auspicious start in the Year of the Monkey. During the festival, 100 small joyful monkey lanterns will be given out to the public daily.

Among them,the Bamboo Art Monkey Spectacular Lantern Zone can be considered the most distinctive area,where bamboo artists have crafted a total of 10 bamboo lanterns of monkeys using various techniques, based on the playful Monday-to-Ten rhymes, adorable yet full of artistic flair;the Prosperous Industries Village Lantern Zone features the Tatung Baby as a Harley rider,leading various industries to depict a flourishing business scene.

Jiji Town Mayor Chen Jiheng stated,the lantern festival spans a total length of 1.8 kilometers,where visitors can start from Jiji Railway Station, walk along Zhongxue Street, Huanshan Street, and Bapian Street, then arrive at Wuchang Palace. Along the way, they can experience the festive New Year atmosphere with homes decorated with lanterns, plus 12 lantern zones such as Monkey Welcoming Guests, Jiguang Avenue, Glorious Sky, Prosperous Industries Village, and the Lantern Art Town.
