To accommodate the transportation needs of residents on outlying islands and reduce the environmental impact caused by tourists, Pingtung County Government and Kaohsiung Hsinchuang Bus Co., Ltd. jointly launched the Xiaoliuqiu Island-Loop Bus, which officially began service today (February 5).

The Xiaoliuqiu Island-Loop Bus is operated by Kaohsiung Hsinchuang Bus, and following its official launch, an 89 NT dollar promotional package has been introduced, allowing unlimited rides within the day. Traveling on the Xiaoliuqiu Island-Loop Bus lets you explore in comfort with air conditioning, free from wind and sun exposure. Moreover, every seat is equipped with a USB charging port—a thoughtful feature that allows you to charge your electronic devices.

Even more uniquely, the drivers' uniforms on the island-loop bus are designed to match Xiaoliuqiu’s island vibe, resembling the look of Luffy from the cartoon “One Piece”—red hoodies paired with straw hats—making passengers feel the strong holiday atmosphere right from the ride. In the first five days of operation, 100 complimentary twisted dough sticks (麻花卷) are given out to passengers daily. The bus also offers driver-guided tours and LED screens displaying travel information and official county government announcements.

Magistrate Pan Meng-an pointed out that Xiaoliuqiu, like Kenting, boasts beautiful and abundant marine resources, making it a top travel destination for many visitors after Kenting, but it also brings relatively more ecological pressure. To develop a low-carbon and sustainable tourism model for Xiaoliuqiu, the county government has promoted the establishment of the Xiaoliuqiu Island-Loop Bus route, encouraging tourists to use public transportation. This makes traveling around Xiaoliuqiu convenient and relaxed while reducing the environmental impact on the area. In the future, the county government plans to further introduce low-floor electric buses and collaborate with local schools to offer activities such as overnight camping on campus and light-pollution stargazing tours.
