Have coffee in Prague Castle! The "Starbucks" with a breathtaking view

Visiting Starbucks around the world is also one of my travel goals. Every time I step into a Starbucks, it always gives me a familiar sense of security. Maybe that's why I always make time to visit Starbucks during every trip and in every city. A cup of coffee, along with a Starbucks city mug, has become my travel habit.

When I revisited Prague last year, I was surprised to find that there were many more Starbucks outlets in the city. It was both a joy and a worry. The joy was that I no longer had to deliberately search for one as before, but the worry was whether this American brand might change the local café culture??? Haha, no matter what the feeling, it seems unable to stop the trend of global brand expansion.

During this trip, I saw quite a few Starbucks outlets in downtown Prague, but the one I liked the most and remembered most vividly was the one located right next to the entrance of Prague Castle. Not only is it situated within an ancient historical building, but it also offers an incredible view. It would really be a shame not to stop here for a cup of coffee!!

The entrance to this Starbucks is super unique!! The temporary counter is only set up on the terrace during summer and good weather.

That day, while waiting for the castle guard change and with decent weather, I met two staff members. Look how adorable they were—they even played along with us!! When I asked if I could take a photo, they willingly agreed to take a group selfie with me. They even took their work apron and draped it around my neck, inviting me behind the counter for the photo. Hahaha, they were so friendly!!

We said we’d come back after watching the guard change, so we went to see it. Afterward, the terrace wasn’t open anymore due to the weather!

This Starbucks Prague Castle isn’t located on the terrace you enter from. You need to follow the signs and go down the spiral staircase to discover a hidden gem. The space inside this historic building brings together American coffee culture. After taking a turn, you’ll finally see the familiar Starbucks counter. After ordering your drink, walk toward the back and you’ll find another surprise: a huge backyard garden where you can gaze at the Prague Old Town. There are also two patches of grass for resting. On a nice day, it’s absolutely fantastic!!

The first time I encountered it that day, the weather was quite moody—sunny one moment, cloudy the next. Then, all of a sudden, it started pouring rain. But soon after the heavy rain, the sky mysteriously cleared up. The sauna-like weather kept me there for over half an hour, and that’s precisely why I found this Starbucks so endearing!!

Blankets are also placed on the chairs by the garden for guests to use freely. In this ever-changing weather, the outdoor spaces can sometimes get a bit chilly, so having such thoughtful preparation really feels heartwarming!

After ordering coffee, with the rainy weather and quite heavy rainfall, only the two of us and another couple were able to stay dry outside. We had a large space and two courtyards to ourselves. After a while, when the rain stopped, we got up to stroll around. This is a secluded, enclosed space, free from the crowds and hustle of the Castle District. It felt like being cut off from the world, almost like returning to a private home. What an interesting Starbucks!

The entire historic building isn’t fully in use. The restrooms are located further down the spiral staircase. The space isn’t very big, but it has a nice vibe!! Next time you visit Prague Castle to watch the guard change, don’t forget to set aside some time to enjoy a coffee at this Starbucks with an amazing view, take a break, and then continue your journey!
