Limited-time scenic views ahead！Taiheiyo Forest Recreation Area reopens on the 17th

The access roads to Yilan’s Taiheiyo Forest Recreation Area have experienced multiple landslides since the end of January, remaining closed even during the Lunar New Year holiday. Recently, slope stabilization work has been completed and one-lane, two-way traffic has resumed. The area is expected to reopen at 8:00 AM on the 17th, with adjusted opening hours and flexible traffic control measures.

The Luodong Forest District Office stated that, considering road accessibility and visitor safety, Taiheiyo will implement flexible traffic controls and rockfall monitoring at both ends of the landslide site along the “Yizhuan No. 1 Line” at the 3.8 km mark, with two staff members assigned daily starting the 17th. Given the frequent fog and rain in mountainous areas, which increases the likelihood of falling rocks, the forest recreation area has adjusted its opening hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM to prevent accidents due to poor visibility.

In response to the adjusted opening hours, the Luodong Forest District Office stated,day-trippers must leave Cui Feng Scenic Road by 3:00 PM, exit Taiheiyo Lodge by 4:20 PM, leave Jiu Zhi Ze by 4:50 PM, and pass through the ticket gate to exit the park by 5:00 PM.Additionally, the previously launched “Hot Spring Starlight Ticket” for entry after 4:00 PM has been temporarily suspended and will not be reopened until the collapsed area stabilizes. A notice regarding the resumption of opening hours will be issued at that time.
