When traveling to Tokyo, many visitors seek out high-end Taiwanese cuisine or overseas delicacies not yet available in Taiwan. In the Omotesando area of Tokyo, there’s a recently super-popular sandwich spot that features generous chunks of lobster meat from Maine, USA, as its filling—every bite bursts with sweet, fresh flavors.

Luke’s Lobster, which opened in Tokyo’s Omotesando in May 2015, has its flagship store in New York, USA. Loved by many foodies for its delicious taste and generous portions, the Japanese Omotesando branch uses the same Maine lobster as the original and serves it between lightly toasted bread. The lobster meat appears particularly generous, which has become one of its key selling points.

You might expect the lobster sandwich to be dressed with mayonnaise or rich cream sauce, as in some American restaurants. But here, the sandwich is sprinkled with a rosemary-scented spice mix and lightly tossed with olive oil. Though the preparation is simple, it perfectly highlights the sweet taste of the lobster. With each bite, you enjoy both the lobster and the bread in a roughly 3:1 ratio, allowing the flavors to shine through—simple yet never heavy. The small size is priced at 980 Japanese yen, and you get plenty of lobster meat, making it well worth it.
