Kyoto Tower gets a dramatic makeover at night! From now on, the nighttime lighting of Kyoto Tower will be switched to LED, replacing the traditional red-and-white image with a range of vibrant colors using LED lights. When the tower glows in hues of blue, green, and red, it resembles an inverted lightsaber suspended in the night sky—offering a completely new and fresh look for this iconic landmark of Japan’s ancient capital.

Kyoto Tower’s classic red-and-white image has been deeply rooted in people’s minds. Starting from mid-March, the traditional lighting will be replaced with LED lighting. By utilizing the three primary colors—blue, green, and red—the tower can produce up to 16.7 million color variations. This not only reduces energy consumption by 70%, but also allows the lighting to be adapted for different festivals and events, showcasing a more diverse and colorful side of Kyoto Tower.
