One of Taiwan’s 12 Major Festivals – Kaohsiung Neimen’s Songjiang Battle Array Kicks Off on April 2, Featuring Water Dance & Fireworks Show

The “2016 Kaohsiung Neimen Songjiang Battle Array” is one of Taiwan’s twelve major festivals. The event will open at night on April 2 and run for nine consecutive days until April 10, taking place at the Shunxian Temple in Neimen, Kaohsiung. Highlights include a national martial arts competition, local banquet feasts, and a water dance fireworks show.

Kaohsiung’s Neimen art troupe culture has been held for 16 consecutive years since 2001, becoming a unique festival brand in Kaohsiung. The 12th edition of the National Creative Songjiang Battle Array Competition has become a flagship event that strongly influences Taiwan’s performing arts troupes. The Kaohsiung Neimen Songjiang Battle Array is not only a festive carnival for tourism, but also plays a significant role in cultural heritage.

The Tourism Bureau stated that this year’s series of events for the Kaohsiung Neimen Songjiang Battle Array are rich and diverse, including the “National High School, Vocational School, and University Creative Songjiang Battle Array Competition,” which carries historical emotion and future heritage, a fitness-focused “Songjiang Workout” martial arts competition, the must-try local chef banquets, performances by traditional civil and military troupes along with cross-strait martial arts showcases, a water dance fireworks display, and the newly launched Badlands Trail Run – Songjiang Unity RUN.
