Visitors aged 16 and above are prohibited from wearing cartoon costumes – Shanghai Disneyland has many entry rules

Shanghai Disney Resort launched ticket sales for the theme park on the 28th, with opening day tickets selling out within minutes and the website crashing temporarily. But do you think getting a ticket guarantees smooth entry?Based on safety and civility concerns, the resort has strict regulations on visitors’ attire, items brought in, and behavior – arguably the most stringent entry requirements.

At midnight on the 28th, three official ticketing channels of Shanghai Disney Resort began selling park tickets and opened hotel reservations, but the official website and WeChat account were initially inaccessible due to high traffic. Anddata from Alitrip shows that over 20,000 park tickets were sold within 30 minutes.

Shanghai Disney Resort stated earlier on Weibo, “The launch of park ticket sales and hotel reservations at midnight received an enthusiastic response,with over 5 million clicks on the resort’s official website within half an hour. The huge volume of visits caused intermittent issues with our ticketing system. Currently, all ticketing channels, including the official website, WeChat, Alitrip flagship store, reservation service center, and various tourism industry partners, are operating normally.”

But do you think getting a ticket guarantees smooth entry? Based on safety and civility concerns, the resort has strict regulations on visitors’ attire, items brought in, and behavior. The “Visitor Guidelines” on the official website state,visitors must dress neatly in the park, those aged 16 and above may not wear costumes of characters from cartoons, movies, or comics, nor may they wear face masks (except medical ones), and if a mask is worn, it must not cover the eyes; selfie sticks, large tripods, folding chairs, and stools are not allowed.

Additionally, visitors must respect other guests and cast members (staff) in the park, use polite language, and refrain from any dangerous, illegal, unhygienic, destructive, or aggressive behavior;to ensure safety, running in the park is not permitted; when waiting in line, do not bump into others, and all members of a group must queue together.

Shanghai Disney Visitor Guidelines are as follows:

1. Certain handbags, packages, or other items may not be allowed into the park. Unattended items will be dealt with appropriately.
2. Pleaserespect other guests and cast members (staff) in the park, use polite language, and refrain from any dangerous, illegal, unhygienic, destructive, or aggressive behavior. To ensure your safety and that of others, please do not run in the park.
3. When waiting in line, please respect other guests and avoid bumping or pushing. All members of a group must queue together.
4. Visitors must maintain neat attire at all times in the park (including tops, pants/skirts, and shoes). Guests aged 16 and above may not wear costumes of characters from cartoons, movies, or comics.Floor-length garments are not allowed. Inappropriate, indecent, or disruptive attire may result in denial of entry or removal from the park..
5. Guests aged 16 and above may not wear face masks (except medical masks). When wearing a mask, do not cover the eyes and ensure that visibility is never obstructed, allowing clear sight of surroundings.
6. Smoking is prohibited in the park except in designated smoking areas (including tobacco, electronic cigarettes, and other smoke-producing products). For the specific locations of smoking areas, please refer to the park guide or ask a Cast Member.
7. Please keep an eye on children in your care at all times.Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a visitor aged 16 or above..
8. Whether visitors can experience attractions depends on specific safety rules. Children under the age of 7 must be accompanied by a visitor aged 16 or above when riding attractions.

Tickets and other premium benefits are non-transferable, non-exchangeable, and non-refundable without permission. We may cancel tickets and other premium benefits. Any alterations to tickets or other premium benefits will render them void immediately. Tickets are valid for use only by the original purchaser within the validity period and are not applicable to special events with additional charges. Your photo will be taken at the park entrance as identification for ticket use. You must present your ticket if you enter the park multiple times in one day.
 

The following items are not allowed in the park:

1. Flammable or explosive items (such as firecrackers), weapons, imitation weapons, and toy guns (including toy explosives, water guns, etc.).
2. Food (except for food with original packaging, sealed, and unopened) and alcoholic beverages.
3.Bags exceeding 56cm x 36cm x 23cm in size. In necessary situations such as peak periods, other wheeled luggage may also be prohibited.
4. Strollers and wheeled conveyances — except for manual wheelchairs, electric convenience vehicles for people with disabilities with at least three wheels and a speed not exceeding 16 km/h, and strollers no larger than 92cm x 132cm.
5. Wheeled recreational equipment such as roller skates, shoes with wheels, skateboards, and scooters.
6.Large tripods, folding chairs, and stools.
7. Canned or glass containers (except for small baby food cans).
8. Animals (except for guide dogs). Guide dogs must be leashed and under the handler’s supervision at all times. Some attractions may also prohibit entry of guide dogs.
9. Items prohibited by relevant laws and other hazardous or destructive items.
 

The following activities are not permitted:

1. Selling, exchanging items or services, or displaying any items or services for sale or exchange purposes without our permission; distributing or displaying any form of printed or recorded materials, or using any flags, banners, or signs.
2.Using extendable poles for cameras/phones/handheld video cameras (e.g., selfie sticks)
3. Taking photos, videos, or audio recordings, except for personal and non-commercial use.
4. Impersonating or portraying any Disney character in a way that affects other guests or park operations.
5. Feeding animals in the park, including birds.
6. Flying kites or operating remote-controlled devices such as drones and remote-controlled toys.
7. Any dangerous behavior or actions that may interfere with the operation of the park or any of its facilities.
