Two-Week Limited Romantic Scenery: Alishan’s First Autumn Cherry Blossoms and Red Leaves

This autumn is filled with coolness, carrying an especially desolate feel. As is customary each fall, it’s also the season for leaf-peeping. The branches on Alishan have begun to change color with the autumn breeze. Before the maple trees of the Acer family have fully donned their red attire, 《Strolling in the Clouds on Alishan》 captured the mountain’s first wave of changing leaves. Recent visitors to the mountain can enjoy this romantic early spectacle.

Those unfamiliar might think the red leaves have arrived ahead of schedule, but this red actually comes from the familiar, romantic cherry blossoms. As deciduous cherry blossom trees enter their dormant period before blooming in romantic shades of pink and white, they shed their leaves. Recently marks the leaf-dropping phase just before dormancy. The photos were taken in late October and are expected to last for about two more weeks.

The red leaves are scattered across spots such as Zhushan, Zhaoping Park, and Ciyun Temple, bringing a touch of desolation. In addition to the cherry blossom leaves, the ginkgo trees outside Ciyun Temple are also gradually turning into the yellow exclusive to autumn. Recent travelers planning a trip up the mountain have the chance to admire the first wave of beautiful autumn leaves. However, those hoping to see vast expanses of green maple or the crimson hues of Taiwan red maples will need to wait a little longer.
