Taichung Xinshe Flower Sea Debuts！ Buckwheat Flower Fields Rival the Romantic Scenes of Korean Drama "Goblin"

The 2017 Xinshe Flower Sea officially opened on November 11, kicking off a blooming period of over two weeks that attracted many tourists. Comparable to the filming locations of the Korean drama “Goblin,” the vast fields of white buckwheat flowers created a dreamy scene. The entire flower sea and pastoral landscape span approximately 31 hectares, set against an unobstructed background free of buildings, showcasing a healing charm different from previous years. Aerial photos further highlight the overall layout of the exhibition area.

Centered around the theme of a flower sea farm, the flower sea scenic area spans approximately 15 hectares, featuring a variety of ornamental flowers such as cosmos, as well as an edible crop zone that presents a “feast of the land” and “edible landscaping,” including crops like sorghum and buckwheat flowers. The organizers also specially set up an “Ancient and Modern Gate” in the center of the flower sea, symbolizing a journey through time, recreating a scene from the Korean drama “Goblin.” Aerial shots reveal the meticulously designed landscaping of the venue.

The large tree in the flower field has also become a popular photo spot, even more eye-catching than Taitung’s Takeshi Kaneshiro Tree, standing gracefully beside the flower sea. Many visitors felt that the green areas dominated the view, making the flower sea less obvious. Organizers explained that there’s no need to rush to the opening, as it’s not yet the prime blooming period—the flowers will be more vibrant, denser, and more beautiful after about a week. Visitors coming from afar can take shuttle buses from Taiyuan and Fengyuan train stations, available from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
