Just 20 minutes is all you need—Japanese kimono experience in Saga with the chance to brew your own sencha tea!

Walking around quaint streets in a beautiful kimono for photos—what girl hasn’t dreamed of that? Now you can pick your favorite kimono, get dressed and accessorized with hairpieces by professionals, and even try your hand at brewing sencha tea for the ultimate Japanese girl transformation.

Located in Saga City, “Yosooi no Sato Futaeya” lets you rent your preferred style and color of kimono. The staff will help you change into your kimono and, with an expert eye, select the right obi, hair accessories, and sandals. Just follow their instructions—like opening your arms at the right moment—and don’t worry if it’s your first time. The entire process takes only about 20 minutes.

Usually, picking out the kimono takes much longer than actually putting it on—there are just too many patterns to choose from, and you might end up comparing outfit after outfit. If you’re shopping with a group of friends, it’s recommended that each person picks a different color scheme for better group photos!
The current experience package offered by the shop includes a kimono transformation plus a stroll through the city streets, available from 11:00–16:00, starting at 3,500 yen. Before putting on the kimono, wear a shirt or collarless top, and pants on the bottom—but remember to remove your belt. If you want the staff to help with selecting and styling your hair, that’s an additional 1,500 yen.

It’s recommended to head over to “Hizen Dōsenten,” not far from Yosooi no Sato Futaeya. For just 500 yen, you can brew your own Hizen (Iki) sencha tea. Each infusion has a unique flavor—the first might taste like soup, but leaves a sweet aftertaste, and you can even eat the used tea leaves mixed with sweet soy sauce, paired with mildly sweet yet not cloying wagashi (Japanese sweets). It's pure bliss!
