From April to June each year, in addition to flower viewing, various regions across Taiwan enter firefly season. In Tainan alone, there are 14 spots where you can enjoy the romantic sight of fireflies dancing. With firefly season upon us, travelers might want to witness this natural spectacle.However, to protect firefly habitats, besides paying attention to your own safety, remember to cover your flashlight with red cellophane, keep the beam aimed downward as you walk, and avoid chasing fireflies or littering, so that more travelers can enjoy this nighttime summer scenery.

The 14 firefly-viewing spots in the Tainan area include:

Nansi Area:
1. Meiling Scenic Area 　
2. The outlet of the Tsengwen Reservoir dam 　
3. Wulong Trail – walk uphill from the trailhead for about 80 minutes to reach it

Baihe Area:
1. Baihe Qinei Firefly Conservation Area
2. Nankao Rural Firefly Season

Guanziling Area:
1. Guanziling Mountain Area
2. Dongshan Xiangong Temple Mountain Area

Guantian Area:
1. Wushantou Reservoir Mountain Area

Xinhua Area:
1. Xinhua Forest Farm
2. Xinhua Hutoupi (firefly area near the side entrance of the activity center)

Dannei Area:
1. Zoumalai Farm

Xinshi Area:
1. Yingjia Garden Hotel

Nanhua Area:
1. Rueifeng Elementary School
