As Japan’s Golden Week approaches, efforts to restore the Kyushu Shinkansen have intensified recently, with the goal of resuming full service between Hakata and Kagoshima by the 28th.
The Kyushu Shinkansen resumed service between Kumamoto and Hakata on the 23rd, but repairs are still underway for the derailed train and damaged section about 1 kilometer south of Kumamoto Station. With Japan’s Golden Week holiday starting on the 29th, JR Kyushu is working hard to achieve full restoration by the 28th.
