Three rookie male flight attendants who were recently admitted to TransAsia Airways at the beginning of 2016 and are currently in training — Wu Kuan-lun, Lee Ping-yi, and Hsiao An-chen — shared their interview experiences. They offered tips on how to make a strong impression during a 30-second self-introduction using three key strategies: being concise without rambling, being creative yet steady, and leveraging language advantages.
Kuan-ting Kuan gave an example of introducing himself in Mandarin, Taiwanese, and English. He practiced repeatedly in front of a mirror beforehand and ultimately won the favor of the examiners. Wu Kuan-lun said that the service industry values quick reactions, and that “template” answers from cram schools might not be helpful. Hsiao An-chen reminded applicants that confidence is the best first impression, and that simply having a calm and clear tone can leave a good impression. He said he originally didn’t think he had much chance, but the recruiters suggested he continue with his current job.
TransAsia Airways stated that all flight attendant recruitments are done online. Applications are open from May 1 to May 22. Applicants must have a college degree or higher from domestic or international institutions, corrected vision of at least 0.8 in both eyes, and the ability to communicate in Mandarin, Taiwanese, and English, along with English test scores. Those with additional foreign language skills, such as Japanese or Korean, will receive extra points. After the preliminary selection, candidates will go through a final selection and medical examination. Selected flight attendants will be notified of reporting dates as early as mid-July to begin professional training. For more details, please visit the TransAsia Airways official website.
