Are “Taiwanese women” in the eyes of Japanese men hard-to-control dinosaurs? Yoshimichi, a Japanese man who once worked in Taiwan, often shares interesting illustrations and comments on Japanese people’s observations of Taiwanese on Facebook. Regarding dating Taiwanese, Hong Kong, and Japanese women, Yoshimichi used illustrations to compare their personalities—though the women from the three places have different traits, Taiwanese women are “hard to handle.”

Yoshimichi compared women to large, medium, and small dinosaurs, representing differences in personality strength. Getting along with Japanese women is easy, so he drew a small dinosaur being led by a thin string, symbolizing “easy to get along with”; Taiwanese women are transformed into a large dinosaur that pulls her male partner, meaning “hard to control”; as for the assertive Hong Kong women, Yoshimichi becomes food in the mouth of a large dinosaur, completely “eaten alive.”

Yoshimichi said that he once worked in Taiwan for three years and has visited Taiwan for travel many times. Since most Japanese people don’t know much about Taiwan, he created the cartoons on Facebook depicting his observations of Taiwanese people, with no intention of mocking or ridiculing. Yoshimichi’s cartoons, which often offer unique insights, have attracted many subscribers.
