"Dancing Ladies" Spotted at Shilin Official Residence: Exquisite Oncidium Exhibition Showcases Stunning "Leopard Gem"

"Dancing ladies" have made their appearance at Shilin Official Residence ! To welcome the early summer season,the New Orchid Pavilion at Shilin Official Residence is hosting an oncidium exhibition from now until June 12, showcasing nearly 20 varieties, where visitors can admire the vividly colored and finely shaped oncidium orchids, which look like the skirts of women twirling in dance.

Huang Liyuan, director of the park, stated that the New Orchid Pavilion at Shilin Official Residence is the only place in Taipei that regularly holds orchid exhibitions. The "oncidium" orchids featured in this exhibition, also known as dancing ladies, may have small flowers but boast slender stems adorned with light and beautiful blooms. When swaying in the breeze, they resemble graceful dancers—hence their popular nicknames, "dancers in the wind" and "dancing ladies."

The park authority also noted that this exhibitionfeatures the "Leopard Gem," Taiwan’s first patented oncidium variety, which stands out with its unique leopard-patterned colorationand has become an extremely popular variety in the market in recent years. The park authority also specifically urges the public to handle these delicate and fragile orchids with care and love, so that more people can enjoy their beauty.
