The kickoff ceremony for the 2013 CX-OPEN China Extreme Sports Challenge season was held in Beijing, where Sony representatives presented the “Coolpix” AS15 cameras to well-known BMX rider Zhang Zhiyong and skateboarder Zhang Ziyang.     Since its launch in 2012, Sony’s wearable action camera HDR-AS15 has been widely embraced by users, including extreme sports fans, for its compact size, flexible wearability, unique perspectives, and high-definition image quality. In 2013, the Sony AS15 wearable camera received the new nickname “Coolpix” and will collaborate with China’s premier extreme sports event — CX-OPEN — to deliver an exhilarating feast of extreme sports and visual storytelling across five cities. Officially kicking off on June 22, the 2013 CX-OPEN season will feature the Sony “Coolpix” wearable camera AS15 capturing athletes’ stunning performances from unique vantage points. Additionally, at seven major competition zones including Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, all extreme sports enthusiasts can visit the “Coolpix” exhibition area to experience the special appeal of the AS15 wearable camera. Beyond recording thrilling stunts from distinctive first-person viewpoints, CX-OPEN will also partner with Sony to produce China’s first urban extreme sports documentary film tailored specifically for the “Coolpix” AS15.

Thanks to the compact design of the “Coolpix” AS15 camera, it can be flexibly attached to various parts of the body or sports equipment. For instance, mounting it on the head allows for hands-free recording of first-person footage; attaching it to the ankle captures low-angle shots full of impact and speed; wearing multiple “Coolpix” cameras enables switching between different perspectives to create breathtaking edited videos. These completely non-traditional camera angles will make the visuals of the 2013 CX-OPEN season more engaging and help more people fall in love with extreme sports.
