Cathay Pacific’s “Premium Economy Class,” launched on long-haul routes, has begun accepting seat bookings for flights departing from April 1. Initially, selected flights equipped with “Premium Economy Class” will fly to destinations such as Sydney in Australia, Toronto in Canada, New York in the United States, and others. Passengers in this cabin not only enjoy more spacious seat designs, but also have access to dedicated check-in counters, priority boarding, and a relaxed baggage allowance of up to 25 kilograms.

Situated between Business Class and Economy Class, “Premium Economy Class” offers 26 to 34 seats per flight. The seats are spaced 6 inches farther apart from the one in front compared to Economy Class, and are wider with significantly more recline. They come with a main tray table, a cocktail table, a footrest, a 10.6-inch TV screen, power outlets, and additional storage space. In terms of in-flight service, passengers will receive an eco-friendly travel care kit containing items such as toothbrushes, socks, eye masks, and earplugs, along with larger pillows and noise-cancelling headphones. Additionally, welcome drinks such as juice or champagne are provided, along with complimentary bottled water. There are also more food options, including fruits, healthy snacks, and desserts.
“Premium Economy Class” will be gradually introduced on more routes. Starting in May this year, flights to London in the UK will be added. From August, services to Adelaide, Los Angeles, Melbourne, and San Francisco will begin. Flights to Frankfurt will commence in September, while Brisbane and Mumbai will be added starting October. By the end of this year, Cathay Pacific will have 48 aircraft equipped with “Premium Economy Class” in service, with a projected total of 87 aircraft upgraded by the end of 2013.
