Jointly planned for the first time by the Penghu National Scenic Area Administration and the nonprofit Taiwan Marine Environment Education Promotion Association, the “2012 Walk to Penghu – Riding the Wind” will begin on March 11 with a nine-day island-wide coastal hike. To deeply experience Penghu’s diverse, rich, and beautiful coastal intertidal landscapes, be sure to sign up before March 7.
The event is planned so that participants will arrive in Penghu successively on March 10 and begin a coastal walking tour around Huxi Township, Baisha Township, Siyu Township, southern Penghu, and Magong City on March 11 (Sunday).

To showcase the maritime enthusiasm of the people of Penghu, the Penghu National Scenic Area Administration has specially arranged for local residents to join in the celebration, participating in the oath-taking assembly and accompanying walk on the morning of March 11 (Sunday) at 8 AM. The day’s itinerary includes: Aimen Beach (assembly point) → Lindou Beach → Longmen Intertidal Zone → Longmen Lizhengjiao → Longmen Houwan → Yeye Intertidal Zone → Yeye Sunset Viewing Platform, covering approximately 10 kilometers (about 3 hours), with bus transport back to Aimen Beach afterward. The Penghu National Scenic Area Administration stated that, considering factors such as the distance of the hike and safety concerns, participants are preferably 16 years of age or older. Throughout the event, all participants will be covered by NT$2 million liability insurance, and after the oath-taking assembly, each participant will receive one sun hat and one meal box.
