Cathay Pacific’s first A350-900 XWB aircraft has been fully assembled and is scheduled for delivery in July. Continuing the new-generation design style of the B777-300ER and also designed by Ray Chen, the aircraft features persimmon wood as the main color tone. After Cathay Pacific’s redesign, just how stylish does the original A350 become? ETtoday EBC News retrieved image galleries from last May’s A350 experience flights to Taiwan for passengers’ reference.

First, learn about the A350 aircraft →Known for being “the most eco-friendly and advanced,” 70% of the aircraft’s body is made from new composite materials, effectively reducing weight and improving flight safety. The A350 is also a “green aircraft,” equipped with the latest Rolls-Royce engines that save over 25% on fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions, while noise levels are reduced by 20%. For interior space, the cabin accommodates 306 seats across three classes: Premium Business Class (32 seats), Premium Economy Class (31 seats), and Economy Class with family sleeper cabins (243 seats).

The A350 Business Class features a high ceiling design, and the cabin is equipped with streamlined, large-angle windows that are 18% larger in size. The natural lighting design increases light flux by 40%, making the cabin feel more spacious and bright. The A350 also offers a more humanized travel environment, with the aircraft divided into 11 automatically

Business Class Premium
Since introducing the B777-300ER, China Airlines has demonstrated its determination to break tradition and redefine conventional airline design, with Business Class Premium naturally being a focal point. Similar to the 777, designer Chen Rui-Xian adopted persimmon wood grain as the main theme, exuding a strong sense of Eastern aesthetics. However, compared to the upright lamp design in the 777, the reading lights in the A350 Business Class Premium seats appear — at least in photos — to feature a more premium metallic finish. Visually, the lampshades draw inspiration from traditional Eastern ink wash paintings, while the lamp bases evoke the image of trees cradling a round, globe-like Earth, adding a touch of gentle elegance to the new design.

Premium Economy Class
When the A350 was displayed in Taiwan, the Premium Economy cabin area was not shown. However, the internal layout of China Airlines' A350 is similar to that of the 777. The highlights of Premium Economy include a fixed-back seat design that prevents reclining from disturbing passengers in the row behind. There are seven seats per row, featuring 20-inch-wide seats with a seat pitch of 39 inches.

Economy Class
Looking at the photos, the Economy Class cabin on the A350 is similar to that of the 777, with black-colored seats accented by red seats symbolizing commitment. The difference lies in the fact that the 777’s Economy Class seats feature patterns inspired by Song Dynasty aesthetics, whereas the A350 has a more minimalist look. The seat configuration follows a 3-3-3 layout, with nine seats per row, utilizing the latest slim-profile seats that are 18 inches wide. Passengers can enjoy a seat pitch of 34 inches, along with ample legroom.

Additionally, China Airlines has adapted the previous seat arrangement from the 777 by incorporating the popular family cabin concept into the A350.

Lavatories
The original A350 lavatories are quite simple, with the only notable feature being their relatively spacious size. In contrast, China Airlines’ A350 features lavatories adorned with ink wash painting designs that embody a strong sense of Eastern aesthetics.

Airline Lounge Bar
It’s no longer a novelty for airlines to set up lounge bars in Business and First Class areas, but the atmosphere created by China Airlines still stands out as particularly impressive. The original A350 lacks any specially designated lounge bar area, so no relevant images are available.
